Africa Oye

I went to Africa Oye (http://www.africaoye.com/) in Sefton Park, which is is one of the biggest African music festival in Liverpool (and maybe in the UK as well) on Saturday the 17th Jun. I met up with Cath first and joined the others later. Perfect day for the festival. Really a beautiful weather (but very hot). Loads of people were already there, on picnic; some were just lying on grass, some were dancing. The atompsophere was great; very friendly, people with mixed race, good music, and stalls for African and Carribian food, artcrafts, books and CDs.
The bands who played on the 17th were Cabruera from N.E. Brazil, Eyuphuro from Mozambique, Nuru Kane from Senegal, Bonga from Angola and Luciano from Jamaica. I really liked Bonga (He fled to Paris and to Lisbon from Angola because of the liberation. His music was like semba). Sounded like Brazilian music. (The Africa Channel will tape the festival for later broadcast (http://www.theafricachannel.com)).
Good music and sun in the beautiful park, what we needed was beer, but there were no stalls selling alcohol.... There was Marge, our saviour arrived with chilled beer!! You're ace, Marge. xxx
